Plucking and prepping for Wednesday's feast...
The White House today released this photo of two chefs harvesting greens from First Lady Michelle Obama's Kitchen Garden for Wednesday night's State Dinner in honor of Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Mrs. Samantha Cameron. The full details of President Obama's sixth State Dinner are being kept under tight wraps until Mrs. Obama announces these late Wednesday afternoon.
"Baby kale and varietals of greens from the garden will be used in the meal," the White House noted in the caption with the photo on Flickr.
The chefs in the photo were identified as Kevin Saiyasak and Jeremy Kapper. They are part-time assistance brought in for the State Dinner, and are members of the Coast Guard, according to the East Wing.
Part of the event for hundreds of guests--including Homeland star Damian Lewis--will be held in a big white tent on the South Lawn. The structure is partially visible in the upper left corner of the photo. The last time a tent was used for a State Dinner was in 2010, for the India State Dinner.
