On Wednesday morning, President Obama and First Lady Obama will welcome British Prime Minister David Cameron and Mrs. Samantha Cameron to the White House for the second day of their Official Visit. The important diplomatic day begins with a colorful, formal Arrival Ceremony at 9:00 AM on the South Lawn, and culminates with the State Dinner at 8:30 PM in the evening, which will be held in a huge tent on the South Lawn. . Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, and top Administration officials will also attend the day's events.
After the Arrival Ceremony, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Cameron in the Oval Office. The President will then hold an expanded bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Cameron and the Official U.S. and Official U.K. Delegations in the Cabinet Room. The Vice President will also attend. This meeting is closed press.
In the afternoon, the President will hold a joint press conference with Prime Minister Cameron in the Rose Garden.
The Prime Minister and Mrs. Cameron will then attend a luncheon at the State Department co-hosted by Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Mrs. Obama will unveil the menu for the State Dinner, as well as the entertainment and guest list during a 2:00 PM event for young women in the State Dining Room. She will make remarks about the importance of diplomacy.
In the evening, ahead of the State Dinner, the President and the First Lady will welcome Prime Minister Cameron and Mrs. Cameron at the North Portico. The President and the First Lady will then take the official photo with Prime Minister Cameron and Mrs. Cameron on the Grand Staircase in the White House. Guests will arrive through the East Wing Booksellers entrance.
In the dinner tent, the President and Prime Minister Cameron will each give a toast during the State Dinner.
Following the dinner, the President and the First Lady will attend the State Dinner reception with Prime Minister Cameron and Mrs. Cameron, which will also be on the South Lawn. More guests will be invited to the reception, in addition to those attending the dinner.
