Video: First Lady Michelle Obama Speaks At Northgate González Market

First Lady Michelle Obama's big Let's Move! event this week was a visit to the site of a future Northgate González Market that will open in April in Inglewood, CA. Mrs. Obama spotlighted the work of The CaliforniaFreshWorks Fund (CFWF), a public-private financial partnership led by The California Endowment. In this new CFWF video, Mrs. Obama, as well as those who joined her at Northgate, speak about the importance of bringing healthy food to "underserved" communities.

Mrs. Obama was joined by Inglewood Mayor Jame T. Butts, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and Dr. Robert Ross, CEO of The California Endowment, and Oscar Gonzalez, one of the Northgate owners. CFWF is financing three Northgate Markets in Southern California. The fund received a $3 million grant from the US Treasury in the Fall of 2011, and now as $264 million in financing available, according to Ross.
