Will America see the First Lady herself cooking in 2012?
Ahead of the second anniversary celebration of the Let's Move! campaign, First Lady Michelle Obama has an interview in the current issue of Prevention magazine. She also filmed a video to promote the magazine's "Kids Get Cooking Day."
"It's all about getting your children involved in a healthy meal, right in your own kitchen," Mrs. Obama says onscreen.
"Maybe you don't know just how much of a difference getting it can make to include your children in the act of cooking itself. See when they cook, kids become more invested in their meals. They learn about the ingredients and what constitutes a nutritious diet."
Mrs. Obama's only public outing as a cook since becoming First Lady was at the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll, when she flipped a crepe alongside acclaimed French chef Jacques Pépin. Asked by Obama Foodorama if America will be seeing Mrs. Obama herself cooking in 2012, Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives Sam Kass declined to comment. The First Lady's forthcoming book about the White House Kitchen Garden, American Grown, includes recipes.
The Prevention feature includes a recipe for vegetable pizza from White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford.
