Campaign 2012 event has a culinary competition, food tasting, and a special cookbook...
A staunch supporter of President Obama, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick will be taking a page from the Eater in Chief's playbook next week when he gets in some foodie action during an Obama for America fundraiser. On Tuesday, Jan. 31 in Boston, Patrick will be a judge for a Top Chef-esque cook-off courtesy of Massachusetts Chefs For Obama, a collective of restaurant stars who are stirring the pot for Campaign 2012. Acclaimed chef Ming Tsai, of Blue Ginger restaurant in Wellesley, will also be a judge. The James Beard Award-winner is no stranger to Obama cook-offs: He was one of the contestants last November in a competition spotlighting First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign. Gov. Patrick's wife, Diane Patrick, and Massachusetts State Treasurer Steve Grossman will also be judges for the cook off, which will be at 6:30 PM at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts. The event includes a food tasting, and the 13 participating chefs have also created a cookbook to raise cash for President Obama's war chest, titled "Massachusetts Chefs for Obama." It features handy-dandy pull-out recipe cards, and is being sold for $100 by OFA. (Above: The cover of the cookbook)
Tickets for the fundraiser are $250 for general admission; $500 for general admission and a cookbook; and $1,000 for Host Committee, which includes a cookbook and a pre-reception with the chefs. Ticket information is here.
