White House Holiday Photo Of The Day

First Dog Bo, licorice and marshmallow edition...
First Lady Michelle Obama's holiday decor theme is "Shine, Give, Share," to honor military families. First Dog Bo, whom Mrs. Obama this week called "the most famous member of the Obama family," is featured throughout the decorating. Above, a 9-inch tall Bo in the Green Room is made of licorice and marshmallows. He's nestled beside an antique lamp on a side table.

"It’s sort of a "where’s Bo?" Mrs. Obama said. "Trust me, our dog has been a little confused walking around the house for the last couple of weeks, seeing himself in gigantic form."

Bo is indeed in gigantic form: In the East Garden Room, he's depicted in felt, and is 4 1/2 feet tall.

The other Bo decorations range from a three-inch ornament hanging on a Christmas tree in the Vermeil Room to a larger-than-life version made of trash bags, lying beside the fireplace in the Library. He's also depicted in pom poms, buttons, and other materials. (Above: A long view of Bo in the Green Room, which features greenery and sparkles)

In the White House video below, Bo meets his many matches as floral designer Heather Cooper explains how the decorations were made.
