White House Builds Social Media Excitement For Easter Egg Roll With 'Daily Updates' On Twitter

Costumed characters announced today: Iron Man, Babar, Peter Rabbit, Captain America, Elmo, Power Rangers, Smokey Bear...
President Obama and First Lady Obama's fourth White House Easter Egg Roll, the 134th in White House history, will feature the second-ever Let's Move! Tweetup. In an effort to drive social media excitement, the White House today announced that the names of entertainers who have been invited to perform at the April 9th South Lawn eggstravaganza will be unveiled throughout this week with "daily updates" on Twitter, instead of all at once, as happened at past Rolls. To get updates, users have to follow @LetsMove or Facebook.com/letsmove. The hashtag #EasterEggRoll will be used.

Today the White House announced the names of the many, many costumed characters who will be strolling the South Lawn on April 9th (the announcement was not on Twitter, however). From Alvin and the Chipmunks to Spider Man and Iron Man, there's a big lineup of kid faves from movies, TV, books and toys--such as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. That White House staple, Elmo--who has appeared in a healthy eating video with Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives Sam Kass--will also be rollin'. On April 9th, there will be livestreams all day at WhiteHouse.gov/live.

Guest chefs--including some famous names--will also be joining the fun on April 9th, and cooking in the Kids Kitchen at the bottom of the South Lawn. This year's theme is Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move!, and about 35,000 guests are expected at the White House.
