Meeting, working luncheon, and press conference...
President Obama welcomes Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexico's President Felipe Calderón to the White House today for the North American Leaders’ Summit. The trio will have a closed-press meeting in the State Dining Room at 11:15 AM. At noon, talks will continue during a closed-press working luncheon in the Green Room. Above: When Calderón hosted the Summit in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2009, it included a fun visit to the Cabanas Cultural Center, where the three leaders got a briefing on traditional Tequila making. Harper is center, and Calderón is at far right.
Today's summit "will build on wide-ranging and ongoing cooperation among the United States, Canada, and Mexico with a particular focus on economic growth and competitiveness, citizen security, energy, and climate change," the White House said.
The three leaders will hold a joint Rose Garden press conference at 1:15 PM.
The President last met with his counterparts in November of 2011 at the APEC Leaders Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. Calderón, who was honored by President Obama with a State Dinner in May of 2010, last lunched at the White House with the President a little more than a year ago, on March 03, 2011.
