Special commemorative wooden egg set features a Bo egg with pawprint...
A cartoon image of a bunny is imprinted on the souvenir wooden eggs that will be gifted to the thousands of kids who will attend President Obama and First Lady Obama's 2012 White House Easter Egg Roll on April 9th. But for the first time since the Obamas have lived at 1600 Penn, there's also a special egg with First Dog Bo. 2012's theme, announced today, is “Let's Go! Let's Play! Let's Move!" The most famous Obama--that would be Bo--stars in a new video announcing that the online ticket lottery opens today. (Above: The eggs; the Bo egg is in the center)
In addition to being included in the kids' goody bags at the Roll, the souvenir wooden eggs are sold by the National Park Service as a collectible. They come in four bold colors – purple, blue, green, orange – and include the stamped signatures of the President and First Lady ($7.50/each). The commemorative red Bo egg featuring the First Dog’s paw print is included ONLY in the 2012 5-pack Collector’s Egg Set, available for $29.95. CLICK HERE to pre-order.
More than 35,000 guests will attend the Easter Egg Roll this year, according to the White House, making it the largest in history.
The 2012 Easter Egg Roll activities "will help educate families on smart ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise choices into their daily routines, which are key pillars of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative," the White House said.
